The problem with RED folders
Camera, card, take number: the structure is logical but unreadable as long as you do not know the content. Anyone looking for a particular shot opens clip after clip until the right one turns up.
What the preloader does differently
With the RED R3D runtime present, JB Thumbnail Preloader pulls a frame from the R3D clip and makes the structure visible. Instead of reading folder names, you recognise subjects.
For screening and for the archive
It pays off at two moments in particular: right after copying the cards, when you check that everything is there, and much later in the archive, when somebody asks whether a certain shot from back then still exists.
Requirement for R3D previews
JB Thumbnail Preloader does not include the RED R3D runtime. To decode a frame from the clip, a RED R3D runtime must already be installed on the computer, for example with REDCINE-X Pro. Without that runtime, JB Thumbnail Preloader can only use an embedded preview if the clip contains one. If that is also missing, Explorer shows the file type icon.
