The SmartScreen warning

Windows runs a reputation check. New installers that Microsoft has not seen often trigger a warning, whether or not they are clean. Choose "More info" and then "Run anyway". The warning disappears over time once enough installations are registered.

Signing

The installer ships signed. You can check that yourself: right-click the downloaded file, then Properties, then the Digital Signatures tab. If there is no entry there, or a different name than expected, please do not use that copy and download the installer directly from the product page instead.

What the software does on your system

• It registers a preview handler so Explorer can display the generated images.
• It reads files inside the folders you selected.
• It stores previews and settings in its own area on your device.

It does not modify original files, does not install browser extensions and does not change system settings beyond what the preview handling requires.

Antivirus software

Because the software reads many files in a short time, some scanners take notice. That is a behavioural signal, not a finding of malware. If your scanner slows preparation down noticeably, add the installation folder and your library folders to its exclusion list.
